Letterboxing Adventures

We started our first Letterboxing Adventure about a year ago, and haven't done one since. We decided for Memorial Day we would do another one. For those of you who don't know what letterboxing is, it is an intriguing pastime combining navigational skills and rubber stamp artistry in a charming "treasure hunt" style outdoor quest. www.letterboxing.org is one of the main sites you can go to and find information for it. It is an international thing, and you really wouldn't believe how many people actually participate. We first learned about it from a FamilyFun magazine. Basically you go to the web-site and find letterboxes in your area, then you follow the directions and go find it. You take with you paper, ink pad & a stamp you either made or bought. What you find is a small container containing a small book of papers, and a stamp (usually homemade). You put your stamp in their book, leaving your name, date and where your from and then you stamp their stamp in your book with the name and location and date & of course bring your camera for a fun picture. The kids absolutely think it's one of the funnest things in the world!

We ended up at the Blue Heron Park in Chandler Arizona. Not too far from our home. It was a quiet park in a nice neighborhood and we saw a couple of Blue Heron's. They are very pretty up close. We hope everyone had a fun Memorial Day!
